Day 13 - Handheld Jackhammer

We're back. Operation Backfill was a grand success. Thank you Nate and crew!

Nate and Kevin are still here. They are digging a trench that will hold the pipes that we will use to run the electrical from the house to the service.

This is a shot of the other side of the house from the last image. The green and grey pipes run up the back of the house. This area will be backfilled as well, but not until Nate and Kevin have finished running the rest of the pipe.

A quick side note: This is the world's scariest snowball. No, it's a combination of concrete and Helix, the steel strands that we used to reinforce our concrete. This is what happens if all the Helix is dumped into the concrete at once; it will ball up and not distribute itself evenly in the concrete. The proper way to add Helix to concrete is to add a little bit at a time.

You can see the grey and green pipes running up the backside of the house.

This is my toy for the day. We need a way to run a pipe into the house that will connect the plumbing to the septic, as well as a pipe that will connect to the well. I'll be busting a hole through the concrete with this bad Larry.

Piece of cake!

Our septic pipe is all set. The septic won't go in for some weeks, but this area needs to get backfilled, so the hole needed to be drilled today.

Nate and Kevin finished running the rest of the pipe.

We will be running wire through the pipe when it is time to wire the house (I'm curious how we will get the wire through the piping too).
